Don't fake it!

If you've ever met someone who's desperately into something you're not - have you ever said "Ooo yes, me too"?

Don't!

You might think it makes you more compatable but in the long run it doesn't. Even in the short term it doesn't.

Don't show yourself up by lying to impress people. Don't pretend to have done things you haven't - you will get caught out sooner or later and then even if this is the love of your life you've instantly proved yourself untrustworthy.

Be honest.

Try phrases like "No, I've never done that, tell me more" or "No I have never tried that, I have always though it looked fun though"

By being honest and not faking it you give yourself opportunities to find out more about this person and their hobbies and they might even offer to teach you or take you!

 

By the same token do not make up hobbies to make yourself sound more interesting. If you claim to be an expert at karate you better well be one!

If you don't have many hobbies then maybe you should look at taking a new one up - again a chance to socialise and make more friends. Always a good thing!
