Who to avoid?

I've put together a list of who you should avoid when dating.

I'm going to start by saying avoid dating people at work.

That's not to say love in the workplace doesn't happen but it can cause problems, come companies actively discourage it.
Currently some companies are even stopping their Christmas parties because of the problems it can cause. Flirting at work can get you into trouble with sexual harrassment claims or even sex discrimination laws. Just don't do it.

People who are married

Don't do it!
This is a bad idea. Do not even think about it. If you unwittingly get suckered in to dating someone who is married stop it as soon as you find out! If they'll cheat on someone they're married to then they will cheat on you too.
A relationship founded on guilt after someone leaves their marriage for you is much harder work.
Clues to identify them: You never get their home phone number. You never get to see their home. You don't get to spend their birthday with them, you don't get weekend time, weekends away when you want.

Fibbers and Liars

If someone lies to you at the start of a relationship then it isn't a good start is it?
Some people might say it depends what they lie about and it is up to you to decide whether it's important that they are completely honest.

How to tell: You might notice them claiming extreme things without any proof (A ferrari which never materialises might be a clue too)
Some liars are very good at it!

Green eyed monster

Someone who is incredibly jealous and possessive is just a nuisance unless you like that sort of thing. Obsessives who want to control you by knowing exactly where you are all the time, who constantly ring you on your mobile, question where you are all the time, challenge you as to where you were and who you were with. Someone who is emotionally insecure needs help - and not a relationship.

Hints to id these jealous people - they're full on wanting to know the who what where and when of your life without them.

Social Misfits or Nutters

I've grouped these together. People who seem to be quirky might just be a little bit eccentric or utterly insane. It is learning to judge where the border is and which side of it they're on. If you think someone is quirky and interesting then don't rush into anything.
Nutters can be tricky to spot - talking to corned beef cans is a sure sign though. Watch out for bizarre behaviour.

Smoothies -Flirty and too smooth

There's nothing wrong with a bit of patter but watch out for the "how you doing?" smoothie attitude that just slimes and sleezes. Watch out for patter and lines that sound too corny.
This is always the risk that you might miss someone who's just trying out a line once but what if they're a serial dater?

 

Too soon - On the rebound

Just split up, not fully recovered from a bad relationship. Someone in need of time out from dating.

Signs : they constantly talk about their ex. Think about their ex. Likely to call you by their ex's name.
